Before we get into today’s blog “Earthing Superpowers” and how together we can create the superpowers we need to save lives. I want to share a personal story.
I have a confession to make…
Earlier this year I found myself in the Southern Ocean at 45deg Lattitude barrelling along at 20-30 knots on a 70 foot (23m) surfboard otherwise known as a sailboat called Black Betty in 45kts winds and 10-12m swells. In those conditions, it’s all one can do, but to think about the here and immediate ‘now’. But, outside the times of sheer panic, and during the time of reflection, the thoughts of superpowers surfaces.
“What superpower would you have and why?”
Whilst Marvel Studios hasn’t got around to launching the superhero ‘Earthing Man or Woman’ yet. But, in the times of inner reflection, the Super Hero character that I vote for is “Storm” who has the superpower to control the weather. That’s a pretty useful superpower to have onboard the sailboat in the middle of a race, for sure, if only.
However, in some sense though, we all have the power to acquire an Earthing Superpower. Because, the science of weather and its effects on power systems, plant and equipment is a topic we understand today!
So, Marvel may be missing a superhero in their line-up or maybe that person is you?
We all have things we are yet to learn. And for me, racing an offshore sailboat halfway around the planet seemed like a good thing to learn how to do, whilst the body is capable. It also provided an opportunity to combine learning with a personal mission.

Today, back on land again, and I am keener than ever to help develop the electrical sector’s own earthing superpowers. So, more people can properly protect life from the harmful effects of HV electricity in our communities across the world. And this is where YOU can help.
Please complete this short survey on what you’d like to see covered in one of our online or in-person courses. What questions or electrical problems are causing you a ‘hair on fire’ kind of a feeling that you’d like answers to?
